Since 2017, Art by Blind has been empowering blind and visually impaired individuals in Sudan to transform their creativity into sustainable livelihhood.
Art by Blind is a flagship initiative under the Oaknna Foundation, dedicated to training, equipping, and supporting blind artisans in creating market-ready arts and crafts.
Founded in 2017, the program ran successfully for several years until conflict forced its suspension. Today, with renewed hope and support, we are relaunching to restore livelihoods and dignity for blind Sudanese artisans.
Our Mission
To empower blind and visually impaired individuals with the skills, tools, and platforms to create and sell high-quality, handcrafted products , proving that blindness is no barrier to creativity, productivity, or independence.
What We Do
- Skills Training: Accessible arts and crafts workshops adapted for blind participants.
- Production Support: Supplying quality materials, tools, and workspace.
- Market Access: Showcasing and selling products locally and internationally.
- Cooperative Development: Helping artisans form and manage income-generating cooperatives.
- Advocacy & Awareness: Challenging stereotypes and promoting inclusion through art exhibitions and media outreach.
